This is the first in a series of search engine optimization (SEO) tips of the day. While these SEO basics are well known to many Web professionals out there, it is entirely possible that some haven’t received the memo yet. I also realize that some organizations may not have a budget for SEO consultants. It is for those folks that I offer these SEO tips.
Today’s SEO tip is very simple, and easy to apply to your site’s pages:
Make sure that each one of the pages on your Web site has a unique title tag. I visit sites every day and find page after page with the institution’s name or some other information repeated in the title tag on each page. This is definitely an SEO no-no. If you manage such a Web site, I encourage you to begin writing unique tags for every page on your site. Google and the other major search engines will be watching.
If I have helped one person with this simple SEO advice today, then this post will have served its intended purpose.

So you know you need to get your website on page one of Google to get more business, but how do you choose an effective SEO company that won’t take your money and deliver no results?
Hmm. You could consult some of your colleagues, or connections on LinkedIn, or some such. You could perform an Internet search and find an “effective” SEO company that way. But that would be a bit too random. What I would recommend is looking for an SEO company that is smart about posting comments on blogs in order to enjoy the benefits of the link back to the company’s Web site.
